4/6/84: Rickey, A's run roughshod over Red Sox, 10-1

See Rickey. See Rickey Run. Run, Rickey, Run. The Red Sox certainly had that variation of the Dick and Jane books on their minds after Henderson and his A's teammates beat up on the previously unbeaten Sawx, 10-1.

Henderson reached base all 5 times he was up, going 2-for-3 with 2 walks, plus he was safe on an error by Sox catcher Gary Allenson. Henderson stole 3 bases and scored 3 times. The A's made mincemeat of Red Sox pitching, collecting 14 hits off 3 Sawx pitchers. including starter Oil Can Boyd who was battered around just like an "Oil Can" Every A's starter on offense got at least 1 hit, including 4 doubles and 1 triple, with Donnie Hill getting the triple and a double and Dave Kingman getting 2 doubles.

The Red Sox managed some offense against A's starter and winner Lary Sorenson, collecting 7 hits including 3 from Jerry Remy and a late home run by Tony Armas to avert a Sorenson shutout. It was Armas' league-leading 3rd home run.
