4/6/84: Yount walks, Coop slams as Brewers sink M's in 11, 6-1

The Brewers and Mariners battled for 11 innings in an offensive struggle until the Brewers broke through with a 5-run 11th defeating the M's, 6-1.

Both starting pitchers Moose Haas and Matt Young settled for a no-decision leaving this one in the hands of the bullpens. With Paul Mirabella pitching for Seattle, the Brews saw their opening starting with a lead-off walk by Jim Gantner. PH Bobby Clark singled Gantner to 2nd, setting up a bunt for PH Ed Romero, who laid one down to Ken Phelps at 1st, putting runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

The Mariners then brought out the four fingers, meaning an intentional walk for Charlie Moore and a double play opportunity with Robin Yount at the plate. Mirabella walked Yount to bring home Jim Gantner with the go-ahead run, then with the bases reloaded with 1 out, Seattle changed pitchers, bringing in Edwin Nunez to pitch to Cecil Cooper. Cooper promptly Grand Slammed the door extending Milwaukee's lead to 6-1.  Rollie Fingers pitched a perfect bottom of the 11th for Tom Tellman, who got the relief win.
