4/6/84: Mets smash Astros, 10-2

The Mets took advantage of a 12-hit attack, dispatching the Houston Astros by a 10-2 score. The Mets scored 4 runs in both the 2nd and 5th innings enroute to the win, more impressively in the 2nd, when Danny Heep tripled in Darryl Strawberry who had walked, Junior Ortiz singled home Heep, then Walt Terrell and Wally Backman doubled back-to-back, capping off the inning. Every Met batter got at least one hit.

The lone bright spot for Houston was Dickie Thon, who tripled in his 1st 2 at-bats driving in a run and singling in his 3rd at-bat. Walt Terrell went the distance for the Mets, while Mike Scott only made it to the 5th inning for the Astros.
