4/8/84: Phils v. Reds, or "How Soon Can Pete Rose Become Manager?"

Pitching Matchup: Carlton v. Soto

Expectations for pitching matchup: Pitcher's duel, as my last few games in replay have been blowouts.

What Really Happened: Phillies jumped out to 7-0 lead after 1-1/2 innings, Soto yanked in 4th, Reds actually pulled within 3 runs at 7-4 after 2 but Phils got 2 runs in 4th and 3 in 5th for another blowout.

Star of the game: Glenn Wilson, 2 homers, 2-run double, 6 RBI.

How's that Schmidt guy doing? 3-run homer; turned line-drive DP.

PHI 12-13-1 CIN 7-10-1 WP-Carlton (1-1) LP-Soto (1-1) SV-Gross (1) PHI 4-1 CIN 1-4

How Soon Can Rose Become Manager? Ugly pitching certainly an early factor in the early season, Dave Parker cannot carry the team on his broad shoulders. Think they make him an offer when he visits his old team on 4/9?
