4/19/84: Orioles belt Blue Jays, 6-1

The Orioles rode the reliable bats of Cal Ripken and Eddie Murray to a pair of home runs, while Scott McGregor limited the Blue Jays to just 4 hits in a decisive 6-1 triumph at Exhibition Stadium.

The Orioles got 2 in the 1st on a single by John Shelby and walk by Cal Ripken Jr., they both scored on John Lowenstein's 2-run triple. Eddie Murray homered solo with 2 outs in the 3rd, starting a rally in which Lowenstein and Ken Singleton singled and Gary Roenicke walked. Joe Nolan coaxed a bases loaded walk from Jim Clancy to make it 4-1.

The Orioles closed out the scoring in the 7th on a John Shelby walk with 1 out, which was followed by a 2-run bomb by Ripken. The Blue Jays lone run came on a George Bell solo blast in the 1st. McGregor struck out 4 for the complete game win over Clancy.
