4/22/84: Boddicker 3-hits Twins, Ripken gets 4 hits in 3-1 Oriole win
Mike Boddicker scattered 3 Twins hits, while Cal Ripken scattered 4 hits across the outfield as the Orioles downed the Twins, 3-1 at Memorial Stadium.
Ripken's singles came in the 1st, 4th, 6th and 8th innings. The single in the 4th scored on Eddie Murray's 2-run homer, while the single in the 8th scored John Shelby with the Birds' 3rd run.
Mike Boddicker was dazzling for the World Series champs of 83, allowing hits in the 1st, 3rd and 4th, the hit in the 4th coming off the bat of Dave Engle who singled home Kent Hrbek with the lone Twin run. Boddicker struck out just 1 Twin batter but induced enough ground balls to retire the final 13 Twins while improving the Bird record to 11-4.
